I believe in public schools and the impact they have on our communities. As a school board member, I bring my passion and years of engagement to advocate for our students, staff and taxpayers to ensure that our entire community benefits from quality public schools.

Continued development of comprehensive program choices

I believe that our public schools are facing many challenges today. This challenge brings a great opportunity for our district to shine by highlighting and continuing to develop existing comprehensive educational programming.

The recent announcement of CFBISD's STELLAR programming is the start of this opportunity. As a board member, I encourage our district to look for other opportunities for program expansion. I want to see all children in our district have access to this programming at their home campus. I believe that families should have multiple choices for their children depending on their needs.

I also believe that we have an opportunity to increase our special education offerings. Many families face challenges in determining what school can provide the best programming for their child. Each child is unique, and as a district we can stand out with our offerings of comprehensive choices for all students.

As a board member, I work to ensure that all students and parents are knowledgeable about the existing programming choices provided by CFBISD. I also work to ensure continued growth and expansion of these programs.

increase community support

As a school board member I work to increase community support through transparency and increased communication. I will start by challenging our local schools to reach out to their local leaders. We should invite the community, elected officials and business owners to get involved in our schools.

Community stakeholders deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent as well as the results from those tax dollars. As a school board member, I support increased communication with our community members as well as improved accessibility to transparent fiscal reporting.

Our community is only as strong as our public schools.

quality learning environment

We must ensure that all children are safe while at school. It is our responsibility as a district to take any preventative measures necessary to make our campuses safe. I believe we should limit and harden all entry points to our schools. The majority of our schools have safety vestibules with double doors at the entrances of their campuses. I would like to see safety vestibules at the entrance of ALL our schools. We need a solid formal assessment of all our campuses and once elected, I will ensure that this happens routinely.

We should also focus on the facilities where our children learn each day.  We are currently completing a district-wide facility assessment, and as a board member my goal is to ensure that our decisions have a far reaching impact. I believe the decisions made during this assessment should benefit the vast majority of our student population and span the greatest physical distance in our district.

Students across our district deserve a safe environment, the latest technology and the most innovative classrooms in order to maximize their learning potential.

fiscal responsibility

I am a taxpayer in CFB and recognize the importance of knowing how my hard-earned dollars are being spent. I believe in fiscal transparency and believe that our taxpayers -- the stakeholders -- deserve this. As a board member I work diligently to ensure that our district is responsible in spending and is focused on long-term initiatives that will sustain us as we grow as a district.

Our goal as a district should be to keep our tax rate low with our return on investment high.
